"FLEXIBLE FOAM CORPORATION" TO BE BUILT IN PEI INDUSTRIAL PARK MAY CAUSE SIGNIFICANT HEALTH RISKS Officials in Archbald are welcoming "Flexible Foam Corporation" to build a manufacturing plant in the PEI Industrial park. This company produces foam for commercial and residential uses. This company tried to locate in Wayne County, but was forced out by local citizens (who went so far as to organize and threaten lawsuits) concerned about the dangerous raw material that would be transported into their community, the dangerous handling of these raw materials, and The ELEVEN POLLUTANTS that the plant would emit into the air. Out of the eleven pollutants, the EPA coincides five of them to be hazardous to human health and to the environment. Three out of the five are known carcinogens. These chemicals (even at acceptable emissions levels")are dangerous to plant life, water life and humans, particularly the elderly, the children and pregnant women and their fetuses. The Flexible foam corporation has a horrible track record (although they claim they have improved). They have similar plants in the U.S. and these are the facts. |

Flexible Foam Corp. says they will create 50-100 jobs in a three year period. When pressed, they admit the wages will only be $7.50 to $9.00 per hour. Additionally, they will locate in a tax-free or tax abatement zone and not contribute to the community, the schools, or the infrastructure. And ... What are the Archbald Borough officials thinking... Wayne County ran them out of town!... Why are they being embraced here??? If you weigh the risks against the only albeit, weak advantage (more low paying jobs, IT JUST ISN'T WORTH IT.
